What does this mean in practice?

As a Mechatronics intern at REV’IT!, you’ll work within the R&I  / LAB department on the development and implementation of  a rain simulation setup to test garments on their waterproofing abilities.

During the development of our motorcycling apparel, we aim to simulate real-life use by thoroughly testing our garments in a lab setting. In order to benchmark to on-road use, we are in need of research, trial and error and a creative do-it-yourself approach to develop unique and tailormade machinery.

  • The development of a practical setup to be handled by our LAB technicians and apparel developers to simulate the influence from a mild drizzle to a heavy rain shower on full garments.
  • Ideation and brainstorm followed by achievable goals, clear design brief and a proof of concept
  • Keeping the limitations of outdoor testing in mind whilst at the same time using the full potential to stimulate the apparel developers and LAB technicians to acquire objective data.
  • Sourcing the elements needed to create a modular and flexible test setup.
  • You will keep the modularity of the test setup in mind and will combine ‘of the shelf’ components with tailormade CAD designed (RHINO) elements.
  • In CAD (RHINO) and where necessary supported by our in-house Engineering department you will develop specific elements to be constructed, 3d printed or otherwise manufactured.
  • Investigating data acquisition tools (e.g. sensor, camera footage, etc.) and if found to be necessary developing and combining hardware (Arduino or alike) with software (Python, C++) to be able to show and report on the data acquired (UI design).
  • Research what visual documentation tools are best used to communicate the data acquired and create solid test reports for connoisseurs and non-connoisseurs to review.
  • Document the created test setup and operating manual in a clear protocol; eventually aiming to be incorporated in the daily routine of LAB testing.

Are you our ideal candidate?

As a Mechatronics intern at REV’IT!, you will love taking striking big-picture thinking into detailed, technical craftsmanship.

We expect:

  • You’re currently studying a relevant education course (Mechatronics).
  • Enthusiasm, creativity and analytical skills in your approach towards test setup development.
  • Component sourcing capabilities and interest.
  • A hands-on and trial-and-error mentality; not afraid of iterations.
  • Problem-solving skills and the ability to adapt to specific use cases.
  • Experience with sensors, electronics, Arduino and Python is preferred.
  • Engineering capabilities and the ability to work with Rhino3D during the development.
  • You are an independent worker and you quickly find your way in different processes within an organization.
  • You are fluent in English, Dutch is a pre.
